The hospital is looking run down simple things like replacing paint on walls which had been bashed, wording on reception desk, letters missing, ceiling tiles absent would cost little to fix. Lots of staff shortages meaning nobody to discharge, medicines, meals and washing very late etc. long long wait for pharamacy to prepare prescriptions on discharge. Clinical assistants very hard working. Waited 6 hours along in a room with a small window prior to operation.
SDEC doctor very nice. Some of the staff on reception were also very nice. It would have been nice if the nurse had explained a bit more, and if everyone had introduced themselves. Toilet dirty, urine on the seat etc. Main thing that makes it unpleasant is staff in the reception area playing crackly music, makes it a more stressful atmosphere for patients who are already tense without extra jangling of nerves from the music.
Absolutely faultless apart from delay in discharge. Over 24 hours waiting for doctor.
Went well and truly above the call of duty.
I have nothing but praise for the hospital.
Very happy with the support and after care I had during my stay in Bedford South Wing
I have been in hospital several times since my first knee replacement in 2009 and have nothing but praise and admiration for the loyal staff that work there. They are always under the utmost pressure because of the understaffing in the hospital and how it can be possible to use the unpaid student nurses as they do l think is a crime.
Following hip replacement surgery in Sep 2021, I had my post-op recovery in Richard Wells. I cannot praise the staff on this ward highly enough. They were attentive, friendly, helpful, very caring and this included not only the nursing staff but the physios, occupational therapists, cleaners and surgical team.
Very well organised
The medical staff, nursing staff, cleaners and volunteers l found all to be professional and friendly during my stays in Bedford hospital. The only suggestion that l can offer is keep doing what you are doing thank you.
